Michael Warren Welch filed for State House to run against Rep. Mike Prax of North Pole.
Andrea "Andi" Story has filed a letter of intent to run for State House. She is the incumbent for the North Juneau area.
Sharon Jackson, Republican filed a letter of intent to run against Sen. Kelly Merrick of Eagle River. Already running is Jared Goecker, another Republican.
Wood bison come to Alaska from Canada
Wood bison have completed their journey from Elk Island National Park in Saskatchewan, Canada to Alaska as part of a restoration program. ADF&G has an agreement with the Canadian government to get any surplus wood bison calves available in even years of 2024, 2026, and 2028. They are being released in the Innoko River area, which flows into the Yukon River from the Innoko National Wildlife Refuge.
Chris Constant withdraws endorsement for two on Chugach Electric Association board
Anchorage Assembly Chair Chris Constant is spitting mad and has withdrawn his endorsement of Sam Cason and Mark Wiggan, two eco-warriors who are incumbent board members of the Anchorage utility. He says they are trying to levy expenses on the municipality and take property rights from the muni. And bind water. “Their thirst for political power outweighs my ability to support them ever again.” We’ll get to the back story in future editions of MRAK.
