Peltola votes: Women don't deserve a league of their own
Alaska's rep. hits a foul, glues herself to pro-trans Democrats on sports fairness bill
Good morning from Somewhere in Alaska!
Will one of these Alaska students be a senator one day? Sen. Dan Sullivan and Sen. Lisa Murkowski have a photo made with a large group of Alaska students on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. The students, their teachers, and chaperones were from Anchorage, Mat-Su & Ekwok, visiting the historic sites, the seat of government, and museums in our nation’s capital with the Close Up DC program. Since 1971, over one million students and educators have participated in Close Up programs.
Peltola votes against girls and women’s sports integrity
Rep. Mary Peltola says the bill excluding men from women’s sports (which passed) is an example of bullying, which she opposes. She called it federal overreach, evidently the best her comms team could muster. (Then why not just dismantle Title IX altogether, if there are no X and Y chromosomes?) All Democrats in the House voted no on a bill that will be a test for Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan as it heads to the Senate.
Growing concern: M-T-F transgenders injure girl athletes
An emerging legal field deals with litigation over the serious injuries girls are getting when male-to-female transgenders are allowed to compete on female teams. Holt Hackney describes hockey and volleyball injuries.
Alaska School Activities Association transgender policy
The ASAA board meeting is May 1-2 in Valdez and we’re advised male-to-female (MTF) transgender advocates will be out in force to advocate for a policy allowing boys on girls teams. Location: Valdez Civic & Convention Center, starting at 8:30 am.

Peltola votes against police — again
Alaska’s representative had the opportunity to show that she actually supports police, and public safety even after a disastrous vote in favor of anarchy last month. Instead she sent them DC Metro Police a signal that police safety is not her primary concern.
Strategic Petroleum Reserve concerns overblown, Biden says
According to a letter seen by Reuters, the Biden administration believes concerns of Republican lawmakers that Biden’s record drawdown of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve damaged the system's delicate salt caverns are unfounded.
The administration last year sold 180 million barrels of oil from the SPR, a system of hollowed-out natural salt caverns in Gulf Coast states of Texas and Louisiana.Biden sold off the reserve to control high fuel prices before the general election in 2022. The reserve is at its lowest level since 1984.
Public comment opportunities for Friday
What’s on tap for Friday in Juneau? Get informed, get involved because Alaska legislators need to hear from you.
Rep. Sara Hannan’s political ‘prayer’ falls flat
Not everyone wanted to “spread across the journal” a forced land acknowledgement “prayer” that Rep. Hannan recited in the House Chambers, which stated that Juneau and Alaska are owned by Alaska Natives, a statement that has political and legal ramifications. Some voted “no” on the woke stunt, which is traditionally a prayer before the legislative business of the day
Two vote against Don Young Day
Two members of the House voted against the bill establishing Don Young Day in Alaska. Young died on March 18, 2022. Democrat Sara Hannan and Republican Julie Coulombe voted against HB 141, making June 9 a day of honor for the congressman who served Alaska for 49 years in Congress, the longest-serving Republican in U.S. history.
Dunleavy to Washingtonians: If you love the Second Amendment, move to Alaska
Gov. Jay Inslee is about to ban about 50 different rifles. Yes, it will end up in the Supreme Court eventually. Gov. Dunleavy has an idea for Second Amendment supporters — move on up to the Great Land.
Alaska House passes Rauscher’s concealed carry reciprocity resolution
It seems simple enough. But many Democrats opposed it. The vote was 26-12, with 2 excused. Now let’s see what the liberals do with it in the Senate.
‘Legalized kidnapping’ bill heads to Inslee’s desk for signature
Alaska parents will want to think long and hard before sending their kids to Washington state to visit relatives or go to camp. The Legislature and governor of that state are allowing youth shelters to essentially kidnap youth so they can get (taxpayer-funded) “gender affirming” surgeries. Look at the list of surgeries they can get without parent approval.
Larry Elder running for president
He’s about as anti-woke as you’ll find in a Republican candidate. The Leftist media hates him. LA Times calls him the “Black face of White supremacy” and other racist smears.
Fred Hosford, a Skagway original, has passed
Fred was an incredibly kind and compassionate Alaskan, and born in Skagway, he had a life story to remember.
April 19 was 30th anniversary of siege at Waco, Texas
Branch Davidians were burned to the ground after the FBI decided that 51 days was quite enough for a standoff. This raid did not age well.
Chugach Consumers issue their endorsements for electric assn.
We’ve written about how the Alaska Center for the Environment is endorsing candidates who want to shut down natural gas in Alaska, as the Democrat group tries to take over the utilities across Alaska.
The reality is, Anchorage may be five years from rolling blackouts if there is not enough gas from Cook Inlet — or we’ll be importing natural gas to keep the lights on.
But a group that is pro-consumer has all the information you need to vote in the board elections for Chugach Electric Association.
Chugach Consumers has made its endorsements. It’s all right here.

Between the federal agency, the legacy media, and the company itself, there has been no reaction to this bombshell allegation by James O’Keefe. What gives?

Larry Sand: Gender dysphoria fad shows no sign of abating
We’ve seen fads before. But this one is now being cemented into law. Take the Washington law that allows the state and youth shelters to kidnap children.

According to the City Manager’s Budget Message accompanying the presentation, the FY24 budget will break new ground with higher revenues and expenses than in any prior year in Juneau’s history.

The Second Amendment is a constitutional check on power by the federal government and clearly intended as a means of protection for an individual’s right to self-defense.
