Question of the week
In 2022, the Division of Elections didn’t release all the information from ballots right away, only releasing the “first choices” of the final four. There is no law preventing the Division from showing all the second and third choices at the same time, which would allow citizens to have a better idea about who was the actual winner before the 15-day delay. Our question of the week is:
Video: Begich-Trump convoys drive the vote in Valley and Anchorage
There were about 40 vehicles in the impromptu convoy in Anchorage and the same in the Mat-Su on Saturday. The election enthusiasts were getting out the vote, taking the sign-waving to the highways.
Democrats have exhausted their pool of voters. This election is now in the hands of the Republicans and Republican voters. If they turn out, they win.
Meanwhile, Mary gets Ethan back in her band for one more romp
Photographed at her door-knocking party in Anchorage, old buddy and former Sen. Ethan Berkowitz (Maria Athens butt-pic fame) stopped by for another round of Mary Peltola. Not a good look, Democrats.
Ballot Measure 1 — raising minimum wage — paid for with dark money from Outside state
Take a look at who is funding the minimum wage ballot initiative. Hint: It’s the usual suspects.
Lawmaker or lawbreaker? Peltola sends out campaign-style letters on taxpayers’ dime
This is likely a violation of law. They know the law, but they found an A.I. workaround. All the letters are essentially the same mailing, with slightly different messages to get under the threshold. It’s intentional. Peltola has no shame using our dollars to campaign.
What to expect from the long delay in ranked-choice voting results after Nov. 5
The Division of Elections could — if it chooses — release all the data when it knows the data. It did not do so during the first ranked-choice election. Will it this time?

Fact
Cartoonist Thomas Nash is credited with creating both the Republican and Democrat symbols, the elephant and the donkey, respectively, when he lampooned the political parties in a cartoon in Harper’s Weekly magazine in the Nov. 7, 1874 edition. Soon people everywhere began using those symbols to represent the parties.
Republican of the week
Steve Bannon: Facts are on our side. Joe Biden never got 15 million more votes than Barack Obama, IMPOSSIBLE. We didn't pick up net 12 House seats when we lost the presidential [election], IMPOSSIBLE. We didn't win 19/20 bellwethers and lose the presidency, IMPOSSIBLE. You generated phony ballots of folks that don't exist.
