Must Read Alaska advances under new ownership
Big news here at the little news organization that has kept mainstream media on their toes for 8.5 years: It’s time for succession management, continuous improvement, new blood, and to keep this conservative project going for future generations.
When I started Must Read Alaska, it was definitely choosing a road not traveled. Now, I have to take on another, more personal road: Family. I’ll be sticking around, (and I’ll continue to write.) Much love and respect to all readers. - Suzanne

We appreciate all generous Alaskans who keep this conservative enterprise going!
Mat-Su elections, school board in balance.
Democrats are focused on taking over the conservative Mat-Su School Board, seat by seat. This year the target from the libs is incumbent Ole Larson, who has stood for families and common sense. The challenger stands for the union and porn-for-kids in school libraries. Will all those families who moved to the Mat-Su from the awful Anchorage School District bring their liberal votes with them?
Less of a concern is the school bully archetype who is challenging conservative Kathy McCollum; the Democrats seem to know they have a wackadoodle candidate in that race and are trying to ignore she/her as best they can and focus on taking out Larson.
Mat-Su voters go to the polls on Nov. 7. Your sample ballot is here.
Must Read Alaska will stay up late on Election Night to report results.
Debate this week
Three (maybe four) Republican candidates will be on the debate stage in Miami on Wednesday at 4 pm, Alaska Standard Time. Whether Tim Scott makes it is still uncertain.
Trump on witness stand
The leading candidate took the witness stand today. Former President Donald Trump testified in a $250 million civil fraud case brought by New York AG Letitia James.
At one point, a lawyer for James asked Trump about the appointment and acceptance of trustees. Trump responded, "You and every other Democrat… coming after me from 15 different sides … all haters.”
Before entering the courtroom, he said to the gaggle of reporters, “It’s very unfair. But in the meantime, the people of the country understand it. They see it, and they don’t like it. They don’t like it because it’s political warfare, as you would call it. Or political lawfare, another name — I’ve got a lot of names for it — but usually it takes place in Third World countries and banana republics.”
Biden’s bad week, with this poll sounding alarm bells
Trump may be right about the people understanding the political warfare. In four of six battleground states, Biden is now losing to Trump. In one battleground, he is tied. In the sixth, he is within the margin of error, essentially tied. Check this out.
Washington thought it would tax its billionaires. One just packed up
Suzanne Downing’s Daily Caller column this week: The more you tax something, the less you get of it. Alan Greenspan said that … Bezos just proved it true.
Dumb criminal: Kenai man arrested for threatening U.S. senator
It appears the man threatened Sen. Murkowski, and the threat was beyond grotesque. Some mental health issues may be involved, considering the man’s written words and history, but at least he has a warm bed and meals now — in jail.
Question of the week: How much have you changed your spending habits in response to inflation?

With all we know about the vaccinations and children, it appears that our Department of Health has the wrong priorities. Alaskans desperately need vitamin D, so why are we ignoring that?

Not all attention is good attention, and when it comes to Joe Biden and Alaska, the attention we get is, shall we say, unwelcome.
